Codelab - Project 1 Preliminary Comps

So I only managed to complete one design for the first critique but I put a lot of time into it. I am selling a code editor/cloud based development environment subscription service. I wanted to keep a real modern feel for the site and keep it fresh. I chose purple/pinkish color scheme for the site s...

Re: Project #1 Prelim

First Design: The navigation seems a bit cramped to me. The links sit right on the black edge and have no room to breath. Im not totally sold on the color combo either. Maybe try to integrate more green into the design if you are going to use it. Its just the random border is a bit weird. I would li...

Re: Project 1-Tina Bodden

The FIrst Design: I think the flat purple makes the site look a bit unfinished. Im also not sure about the banner for the navigation, it will be difficult to code that when it comes to it so I wouldn't go down that road. I like the close up of the sunglasses I think adding more photos of people wear...

Re: project 1

First Design Home Page: I'm not a fan of the right aligned type. I think it hurts the readability of a block that big. You could just left align, or if you like the straight gap it makes with the images on the right then try swapping the positions of the images with the type. I think your navigation...

Yeah texture for sure. Check out http://subtlepatterns.com/ for all your texture needs. Then just photoshop color into them and away you go. I use that website a lot at work since they are free and available for commercial use. I like the color changes for sure. I think if you are going for old anti...

Re: Guess Ill go first. Do you need a sonic?

Everything is a bit drab. Makes it look like you are selling antiques or something. If that what you were going for then you nailed it. If not, I would suggest changing the colors a bit and adding in some more imagery to freshen it up. Also consider changing the logo out, since it too, feels a bit o...

Easy Box Model Solution

Instead of trying to remember all the crap with what adds to your width of a div... just add this to the top of your css. * { -moz-box-sizing: border-box; -webkit-box-sizing: border-box; box-sizing: border-box; } Basically what it does is instead of adding width to your content area which makes your...

Re: Color Pallet tool to help you with your color selections

Ha that is like a total rip of Adobe's Kuler. http://kuler.adobe.com The cool thing about kuler is you can export your selections to a .aco (I think?!) swatch file and then import that right into photoshop. + this one just looks better even though its flash... I do like the patterns option that http...
